With the improvements in materials over the last few years, Evan from Terra Rosa Gear, has personally made the switch from down to synthetic in all of his equipment. For ethical reasons of sourcing down as well as the constant moisture management battle to keep down gear from wetting out and becoming useless, this is a classic story heard many times over.
Using the lightest shell fabrics possible, strong enough to take the punishment of many seasons of adventure, coupled with Climashield apex - an incredibly lightweight and durable insulation that makes a wonderful sleeping quilt; this is the quilt of choice for thru-hikers and long journeyers with a conscience.
